Description

So I have been flying the A380 quite a lot in MSFS24 for testing, and the VRAM bug compounded with the A380's tendency to eat VRAM made it essentially unflyable. So what I did is I resized the 4K textures from the installer down to 2K resolution. While doing this, I also saved around 2GB of disk space.

The problem is that MSFS24 only for some reason will just not load into the menu if it detects that the layout.json file does not correspond with the file sizes (correct me if I'm wrong). In 2020, this was no issue. To fix this, I used the layout regen tool and regenerated the layout.json for the new textures.

The result was amazing: About 1.4-1.7gb REDUCTION in VRAM usage for a marginal (at least in my eyes) drop in visual fidelity.

In 2020, because it does not eat as much VRAM as 2024, the performance uplift might not be as much, but it will still consume less VRAM.

See images below, all in 2024 at ini EGLL.

REMEMBER TO REGENERATE YOUR LAYOUT.JSON

My specs: i9-13900HX, 4060 mobile 8GB VRAM, 32GB RAM
