Seed syntetic database (E2E fwk)

I'm looking for a tool that allows us to version and seed a synthetic database for our E2E tests.

Could Bogus be a suitable option for this?

What has been your experience with it?

Hi. Bogus is a library to generate fake data and offers some capabilities for re-generating deterministic fake data output over multiple runs.

The output and how you version that fake data output for your database E2E tests is up to you and your project needs. Should you version an SQL bulk import script? Or a database .tar backup? As of February 2025, Bogus doesn't offer any DB integration tooling (paid or free) for this specific DB scenario.

• If you want to version an SQL bulk import script, I suspect you'll need to use Bogus with some kind of templating engine that emits bulk INSERT statements. Or you could use Bogus to generate a CVS file for bulk table imports.
• If you want to version some kind of binary DB backup, I suspect you'll need to first load the fake data into your DB from a .NET app using Bogus and then export/backup the DB data.
